Half-Cabs Remembered
For 50 years from the 1920's, the British Bus Scene was dominated by Half-Cab vehicles, from manufactures such as Leyland, AEC, Daimler, Guy, Bristol, Albion and Crossley. Whether you got on at the front or the back, Half-Cabs clocked up millions of miles taking passengers everywhere in the UK.
However, as the world moved on, the familiar Half-Cabs, with their engines at the front, were replaced with rear-engined models which could be operated by just the driver - the future of buses had arrived.
But Half-Cabs refused to die. Many were preserved by people eager to keep alive the various models, and save them for the future. This video looks at the Half-Cab, from the first to the last; from CVG's to Lodekkas, PD's to Regents, this video has them all, with the vehicles themselves in action, plus interviews with owners, operators and drivers. Half-Cabs in preservation and in service are featured on this trip down half-cab memory lane!
