Doncaster has been an important rail centre since the opening of the town's station on the 1848. Its position on the East Coast Main Line, its East/West connections and the wide variety of freight traffic have ensured Doncaster has been a trainspotters' hot spot for many years.
With the privatisation of British Rail, Doncaster's passenger services were operated by six train operating companies, and two major freight companies. Liveries - and locos - have come and gone.
Produced to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Doncaster Works, this video looks at Doncaster rail over the past 10 years - from before privatisation in 1993, right through to today's scene. Also included are unique shots at Doncaster Traction Maintenance Depot and the South Yorkshire Mail Terminal. Digital filmed and edited, this video is the first in the Rail Focus series, each looking at a major rail hot spot.
