Rail Focus - Birmingham

Ever since the city's first station was opened by the LNWR in 1854, Birmingham has been an important rail centre, and now the improvements to the West Coast Main Line and the new Virgin Cross Country timetable ensures it will remain so in the 21st century.

This DVD looks at Birmingham rail over the past 4 years - from the 47's, 86's, 87's and HSTs operating in 2000, right through to today's Pendolinos and Voyagers, with sequences filmed at New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill.

Also included are shots of the tram system Midlands Metro, including unique on board footage.

Digitally filmed & edited and with additional scenes, this programme is part of the Rail Focus series, each looking at a major rail hot spot.
