Do you have to pay or subscribe to the Walks Around Britain website?
No, access to our website is free, but we do ask you to help us by looking through our online Map and Bookshop or possibly by buying your next outdoor clothing through the links on our site. That way, we get commission to help us keep access to the site free. Also, sales of our DVD releases provide important income to help continue this website.

Why isn't there any walks in the .... area on your website?
Give us chance! We started this website in February 2010, and we've got many more places to film in, but at the moment, we're concentrating on the areas which will feature in our first DVD releases - because DVD sales are an important source of income for us to enable to continue to produce and expand the website. If you are a tourist board, council, hotel chain or similar company, and would like us to feature your area sooner, then please get in touch here. We'll gladly share our walking videos on your site and give you credits and links.

Are Walks Around Britain walks available in HD?
Yes - we've filmed and edited all of our walks in High Definition right from the start, meaning that we will be the only walking producer in the UK to have all their library of walks in HD.

Will Walks Around Britain be available on DVD?
Yes, it has always been our intention to have Walks Around Britain both online and on a series of DVDs. The DVDs will focus on a specific area of the country - for example, the Peak District - and will contain longer versions of walks which are on the website, and exclusive walks which won't be featured online. As Walks Around Britain is filmed in HD, we intend to release the series on Blu-ray disc too.

What is surround sound and will it be available on Walks Around Britain?
Surround sound goes a step further than stereo to make the viewer feel as if they are in the middle of the action by providing extra audio streams. We're experimenting with Surround sound on some Walks Around Britain videos, but the extra work needed seems out-of-proportion to the viewing benefit at the moment.
If we made Walks Around Britain videos in Surround sound, they would only be available on the DVD and Blu-ray titles, and not online - as YouTube has no provision as yet for Surround sound-encoded videos.

Will Walks Around Britain be available in 3D?
Not at the moment. In time it is our aspiration to provide Walks Around Britain videos in 3D as and when the technology becomes affordable to produce in the format - and when there are significant numbers of 3D televisions in homes across the country.

Does Walks Around Britain have access services such as subtitles, audio description and signing?
We hope to be bringing subtitling to the DVD releases of Walks Around Britain programmes. Currently, the videos on our website do not have official subtitling. Some do have subtitles provided by YouTube's automated speech recognition system, which at the moment provides subtitles which don't match the narrated word...

Are Walks Around Britain videos produced in 1080i or 720p?
In keeping with all HD productions from Nova Productions, our walks are all produced in the 1080i standard. Nova decided at the start of our HD production in 2008 to use the 1080i standard as it offers the highest possible resolution. 1080i is also the standard used by the BBC HD channel.

Will there be any books to accompany the Walks Around Britain series?
Maybe - we are investigating this possibility, and we would be keen to talk to publishers about this.

Can I download the videos and play them on my iPhone / iPod / phone?
Not yet, but it is part of our plans to offer a download version of our videos, but we haven't as yet decided on whether we will charge for these.

Can I submit my own videos?
Not at the moment. We may have a section for viewers video walks at a later stage, but right now we invite you to upload them to your own channel at YouTube and send us a link via e-mail, Facebook or Twitter.
